Volumen ilustrado - I Certamen de Cuentos sobre Medio Ambiente / 1st Contest of Stories about the Environment - Illustrated book

El acto principal del Día Mundial del Medio Ambiente 2012 en Gijón es la ceremonia de entrega de premios y presentación del volumen ilustrado recopilatorio del I Certamen de Cuentos sobre Medio Ambiente, convocado por el Ayuntamiento.

The main event of World Environment Day in Gijón is the awards ceremony and presentation of the picture book compilation of the 1st Contest of Stories about the Environment, organized by the city council.

Un libro de muy cuidada edición (23,5 x 22 cm, cartoné, 132 pp + guardas) que recoge las 21 narraciones ganadoras, distribuidas en cinco categorías en función de la edad de los participantes.

A very carefully edited book (23.5 x 22 cm, hardcover, 132 pages + fly leaves) that contains the 21 winning tales, divided into five categories according to the age of the participants.

Aprovecho para divertirme con técnicas tradicionales (acuarela y grafito) combinándolas con tratamiento digital. De paso, provoco una evolución progresiva de estilo desde las primeras categorías de Educación Primaria, donde juego con una mayor disociación entre forma y color, hasta Bachillerato y F.P., en que la corporeidad de los elementos es más rotunda. A medida que evoluciona la edad de los premiados, también evoluciona la percepción del libro por parte del lector.

I took the opportunity to enjoy with traditional technics of illustration (watercolor and graphite) combined with digital processing. The result is a stylistic evolution from the early primary education categories, where there is more dissociation between form and color, up to Baccalaureate and Technical Training courses, where the corporeality of the elements becomes more present. Thus, as the age of the winners evolves, I try to shift the perception of the book by the reader.

Día Mundial del Medioambiente 2012 / 2012 World Environmental Day

¡Fiesta! Cada 5 de junio es una fiesta medioambiental. Este año, medioambiente y literatura infantil comparten escenario, aprovechando la ocasión para presentar oficialmente el libro ilustrado del I Certamen de Cuentos sobre Medioambiente (ver cartel) ... y, para mí, una buena oportunidad para un recuerdo personal a tres grandes clásicos: Grimm, Andersen y Perrault.

A party! Each June 5 is an environmental celebration. This year, children's literature is the star, using the occasion to officially present the book of the 1st Contest of Stories about the Environment (see poster) ... and a good opportunity to pay my personal tribute to three great classics: Grimm, Andersen and Perrault.

Fiesta ¡UP! / UP! party

Los 30 años de actividad ininterrumpida de la Universidad Popular de Gijón se celebran el día 8 de junio con un programa de actividades para todos los que deseen disfrutar de una jornada diferente en el Jardín Botánico Atlántico. Una cita con lecturas poéticas, conciertos, danza, teatro, y exposiciones de fotografía, cerámica, pintura y dibujo. Todo ello realizado por alumnos y profesores de los cursos.

Next June 8, the Botanic Garden of Gijón will be the host for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Popular University courses. A program of activities for enjoy the Botanic in a different way: poetry readings, pop-rock concerts, dance, theater, and exhibitions of photography, pottery, painting and drawing. And all this done by the students and teachers of the courses.

Facultad de Filosofía y Letras / Faculty of Philosophy and Letters

La Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad de Oviedo ha contado con mi experiencia para el desarrollo de su nueva identidad gráfica. Mi trabajo se ha centrado en la creación de un anagrama reconocible, capaz de aunar la complejidad de estudios humanísticos que se desarrollan en la mayor facultad, por número de alumnos, de la Universidad de Oviedo.

The Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the University of Oviedo has sought my experience in the development of its new graphic identity. My work was focused on creating a recognizable anagram, capable of uniting the different humanistic studies that this entity holds in a single visual element. This faculty is the biggest (in number of students) of the University of Oviedo.

El símbolo nace de dos segmentos que conviven y se intersectan, conformando una figura lejanamente antropomorfa, nacida de la evolución gráfica de la letra griega "phi", origen etimológico de "Filosofía".

The symbol is composed by two segments who coexist and intersect, forming a vaguely anthropomorphic figure, born of the graphic evolution of the Greek letter "phi", etymological origin of "Philosophy".

Ambos segmentos, merced a esta evolución, se comportan paralelamente como referentes tipográficos al enlazar visualmente con las letras "F" (Filosofía) y "L" (Letras). El símbolo actúa, por tanto, de contenedor multidisciplinar, al igual que actúa la propia entidad albergando estudios filosóficos, filológicos, literarios, históricos y artísticos.

Cromáticamente, tintas limpias, transparentes que enlazan con la gama de azules, colores tradicionalmente asociados a la entidad. Tipográficamente, el uso de la Trajana nos remite a la raíz clásica de los estudios impartidos (en esencia, griega y latina).

Thanks to this development, the symbol acts as a typographical referent, showing us the letters "F" (initial letter of Philosophy, in Spanish) and "L" (Letters). The symbol is, therefore, a multidisciplinary container, in the same way that this entity hosts philosophical studies, philological, literary, historical and artistic.

Chromatically, transparent and clear inks that link to the range of blue colors traditionally associated with the faculty. Typographically, the use of Trajan shows us the classical roots of the studies followed (essentially Greek and Latin).

Polinización: tres láminas didácticas / Pollination: three educational posters

Editadas como parte integrante del Proyecto Apolo, en español e inglés, y orientadas principalmente a estudiantes de Educación Secundaria, estas tres láminas abordan de manera muy visual tres grandes aspectos de la polinización: su proceso, su importancia para nuestro modo de vida y las principales causas que hacen peligrar su supervivencia.

Edited as part of Apolo Project, in Spanish and English, and aimed primarily at students of secondary education, in these three posters are discussed three main aspects of pollination: its process, its importance to our way of life and major causes that threaten their survival.

La colmena viajera / The travelling beehive

La colmena viajera es un cuento creado para niños, adultos y entomólogos, magníficamente escrito por los biólogos Elena García y Manuel Ángel Rosado... y la abeja Poli.

Concebido como uno de los pilares del Proyecto Apolo, se trata del primer libro ilustrado que aborda de lleno una temática tan compleja como la importancia de la apicultura para nuestro modo de vida actual. Una obra documentada de manera precisa, con vocación literaria, científica y didáctica, que se complementa con una guía docente para todos aquellos lectores, maestros, niños y adultos, que deseen leer entre líneas y ver entre imágenes.

The travelling beehive is a story created for children and entomologists, superbly written by biologists Elena García and Manuel Ángel Rosado... and Polli, the bee.

Conceived as one of the pillars of the Apolo Project, this is the first illustrated book that fully addresses a subject as complex as the importance of beekeeping for our current lifestyle. A work accurately documented with literary vocation, scientific and educational, which is complemented by a teaching guide for all those readers, teachers, children and adults who want to understand beyond the words and see through the illustrations.

La colmena viajera (30x21 cm, 48 pp, tapa dura con sobrecubierta) ha sido editada por el Jardín Botánico Atlántico, la Asociación Española de Entomología y el Centro Iberoamericano para la Biodiversidad, con la colaboración del Ministerio de Agricultura, Alimentación y Medio Ambiente a través de Fundación Biodiversidad, Adapas (Asociación para la Defensa de la Abeja del Principado de Asturias) y Fundación Caja Rural.
