La Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad de Oviedo ha contado con mi experiencia para el desarrollo de su nueva identidad gráfica. Mi trabajo se ha centrado en la creación de un anagrama reconocible, capaz de aunar la complejidad de estudios humanísticos que se desarrollan en la mayor facultad, por número de alumnos, de la Universidad de Oviedo.
The Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the University of Oviedo has sought my experience in the development of its new graphic identity. My work was focused on creating a recognizable anagram, capable of uniting the different humanistic studies that this entity holds in a single visual element. This faculty is the biggest (in number of students) of the University of Oviedo.
El símbolo nace de dos segmentos que conviven y se intersectan, conformando una figura lejanamente antropomorfa, nacida de la evolución gráfica de la letra griega "phi", origen etimológico de "Filosofía".
The symbol is composed by two segments who coexist and intersect, forming a vaguely anthropomorphic figure, born of the graphic evolution of the Greek letter "phi", etymological origin of "Philosophy".
Ambos segmentos, merced a esta evolución, se comportan paralelamente como referentes tipográficos al enlazar visualmente con las letras "F" (Filosofía) y "L" (Letras). El símbolo actúa, por tanto, de contenedor multidisciplinar, al igual que actúa la propia entidad albergando estudios filosóficos, filológicos, literarios, históricos y artísticos.
Cromáticamente, tintas limpias, transparentes que enlazan con la gama de azules, colores tradicionalmente asociados a la entidad. Tipográficamente, el uso de la Trajana nos remite a la raíz clásica de los estudios impartidos (en esencia, griega y latina).
Thanks to this development, the symbol acts as a typographical referent, showing us the letters "F" (initial letter of Philosophy, in Spanish) and "L" (Letters). The symbol is, therefore, a multidisciplinary container, in the same way that this entity hosts philosophical studies, philological, literary, historical and artistic.
Chromatically, transparent and clear inks that link to the range of blue colors traditionally associated with the faculty. Typographically, the use of Trajan shows us the classical roots of the studies followed (essentially Greek and Latin).
